What is this part?Updated 8 hours ago

Every now and then, you might come across a part and wonder what it’s for or where it belongs. This article will help you identify the part and show you exactly where it should go.

Main Cap O-ring

The Main Cap’s O-ring is a black circular seal that sits around the internal edge. It’s slightly smaller than the Main Cap’s circumference, which allows it to fit snugly in place. This part is essential, as it creates a secure seal and prevents leaks when the Main Cap is attached to a full Pinter.

If your Main Cap's O-ring seal has fallen out like in the picture below, you can easily reattach this using this video

Main Cap Conical

The conical is the part on the right in the photo below. This is a black plastic part that fits on to the bigger half of your Main Cap.

This part is not vital for brewing. Its function is to help funnel the spent yeast into the Brewing Dock, giving you a clearer brew. If you ever forget to add this part to your Main Cap before brewing, don't worry! You shouldn't notice much of a difference in your brew, but we'd advise adding a Cold Crash day if you have the space in your fridge.

Yeast Shield

The Yeast Shield is a small black part that fits on to the end of your Active Pour Tap. This part is not vital for brewing. This helps to direct spent yeast into the Brewing Dock.

If you ever forget to add this part to your Tap before brewing, don't worry! You shouldn't notice much of a difference in your brew, but we'd advise adding a Cold Crash day if you have the space in your fridge.

If you ever find a small black ring like the one shown below, it has likely broken off the back of your Yeast Shield. Don't worry, this can be discarded and will not impact the functionality of your Yeast Shield.
